Dear Family and Friends.
We have set up this special page to bring an increased awareness of our
concerns in the event of an anticipated outbreak of the H1N1 Flu strain (Swine
Flu).
As a Skilled Nursing Facility with a very high number of ill seniors that need 24
hour care, we are very concerned about the effects a Swine Flu outbreak will
bring!
If you or anyone in your visiting party are sick, PLEASE DO NOT VISIT THE
NURSING HOME! We have already put into effect, a visitor ban on any person
who is showing symptoms of the Flu. We are only trying to protect our residents
and staff. Thank you for your cooperation!
We have a dedicated RN Nurse who has attended and is involved with the
State of Minnesota in planning for this very scary possibility.
We have already provided the Seasonal Flu Shots at No Charge to our staff and
residents.
UPDATE: 01/04/2010
THE H1N1 FLU VACCINE HAS ARRIVED AND HAS BEEN DISTRIBUTED!
According to the CDC and State Health agencies, people over the age of 50
will not be top priority for the H1N1 nasal spray, which will be the first wave of
defense released.
In the event there is an Swine Flu outbreak it could mean that 30-40% of our
workforce could be ill and not be able to work...which raises some major
concerns. If infected with the Swine Flu it is mandatory that all employees stay
home for a duration of 1 week!
One of the ideas that came forward at a recent meeting of State Leaders is to
recruit family members to help out in the event of a Major Outbreak.
We have decided to be proactive and establish a volunteer list so if in the event
of an outbreak and are faced with a 30-40% staff shortage due to the Swine
Flu...we can take the necessary steps to enact this plan.
However, we still need to comply with the many rules and regulations,
including obtaining a Criminal Background Check for all volunteers.
We are asking for ANY adult family member that is willing and able to help us
out IN THE EVENT OF A MAJOR OUT BREAK and IF WE HAVE SIGNIFICANT
NUMBERS OF STAFF OUT ILL, to sign up on our VOLUNTEER LIST!
The Sign Up Form is located on the right of this page >
Volunteer Details:
We would only ask that you help feed and provide basic
cares with the assistance from staff. You will receive
adequate training for the specific task you would be
assigned to.
