State Approval Received For Our Proposed Rehabilitation Unit

We received a letter dated January 25th from the Commissioner of the Minnesota
Department of Health (MDH) informing us that our project had been approved.  In my
article for the November 2007 newsletter, I informed you that we had submitted a proposal
for a 12-bed rehabilitation unit.  The project also included increasing our private rooms
from the current 15 to 39 beds.  The approval from the MDH was necessary to access
funding approved by the 2007 Minnesota Legislature.  The funding pays for the interest
only, however, it does help.

The addition would be attached to the East wing, projecting into the parking lot.  The unit
is designed to have a separate entrance.  Each room is designed similar to a hospital
room, which includes an electric bed, TV and phone.  We have actually lost admissions
because we do not provide a phone or TV to short-term residents.  They have gone to
other Anoka County facilities that do provide them.  Construction on the project is
scheduled to begin in June.
